Nancy, Dr Sim among visitors to Sharifah Hasidah’s Raya open house

KUCHING: Assistant Minister of Law, State-Federal Relations and Project Monitoring Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali was kept busy shaking hands and offering a warm welcome to all who came to her open house on the third day of Hari Raya Aidilfitri yesterday.

The Semariang assemblywo­man held her open house at the auditorium of CATS FM at Jalan Bako.

Guests, who came in their finery, enjoyed a buffet of rendang and curries, as well as other local favourites such as laksa Sarawak, kolo mee, satay and shaved ice desserts.

A live band kept the atmosphere lively with performanc­es of festive songs as well as a few crowd favourites in Iban and Mandarin.

Among the visitors were Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian, Layar assemblyma­n Gerald Rentap Jabu and their respective families.

Also present was former Semariang assemblywo­man Datuk Sharifah Mordiah Tuanku Fauzi, who is Sharifah Hasidah’s mother.

One of the highlights at the open house was the cake- cutting by Sharifah Hasidah and her husband Sayeed Muhamad Hussein Wan Abdul Rahman to celebrate their 23rd wedding anniversar­y.

They fed each other small pieces of the cake, to the delight of their guests.

Later, when asked by reporters about her take on the Tourism Tax, Sharifah Hasidah said whatever the outcome of the discussion on it would be a consensus between the state and federal government­s.
