KUCHING: The people are urged to accept development plans and policies introduced by the government as they would benefit them in the end.

According to Assistant Minister of Law, State-Federal Relations and Project Monitoring Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali, such support is much needed for projects to materialise.

“There were cases, for example, in villages and squatter areas where the people refused to move which hindered the pace of development.

“But those who obliged and accepted such changes wi l l understand why they benefit,” said Sharifah Hasidah at a Rumah Mesra Rakyat 1Malaysia function at Sungai Midin Village Extension Scheme here yesterday.

A total of 13 recipients from Kampung Sungai Midin received the keys to their houses to be followed by 15 recipients for the second phase this July 31, and 24 recipients by end of August.

Sharifah Hasidah said the houses built using Industrialised Building System (IBS) cost RM3,536,000 in total, of which RM1,040,000 was government-subsidised.

Each house comes with three rooms, a toilet, washroom and kitchen together with a proper drainage system, electricity and water.

“The government will not simply implement any project that does not benefit the people, and we do hope that today will bring much cheer to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri,” she added.

Sharifah Hasidah gave credit to Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg who as former Housing Minister had given attention to the people of Kampung Sungai Midin.

Under the project implemented by Syarikat Perumahan Negara Berhad ( SPNB), Daya Builders ( DB) and Housing Development Corporation ( HDC), recipients of houses will pay only RM150 monthly for 32 years.
