Workshop held to set TOR for MPAKS units

-

A workshop on creating Terms of Reference ( TOR) for the new state Early Childhood Education Council ( MPAKS) was held yesterday for its three units.

Welfare, Community Well Being, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Fatimah Abdullah, was present to officiate at the workshop which was held at a hotel here. The workshop saw participation from representatives from all three units – the research, policy and quality assurance unit; teaching unit (formal and home); and teachers’ professionalism and harnessing talent unit.

According to Fatimah, the workshop aimed to discuss programmes, activities and budgets for activities under the three units.

“Early childhood education in Sarawak is a continuous process to stimulate the child’s growth, while at the same time provide a balance through safe and conducive surroundings.

“This is important, as it will be the platform to produce a child who is healthy, active, disciplined, and has good communication skills,” Fatimah said.

She sees such efforts as vital as it will help to realise the state’s early childhood education objectives which includes offering opportunities and facilities for a child’s talent and potential to grow from as early as newborn to six-years- old.

“It is also in line with the state’s early childhood education vision to have children who are healthy, happy and endowed with skills for the present and future-ready,” she said.

Fatimah is expected to attend a leadership forum in Indonesia soon, where she will present a talk titled ‘Best practices in early childhood education leadership – changing trends’.
