SIRIM Tech venture forms strategic alliance with LD Micro Precision
KUALA LUMPUR: SIRIM Tech Venture Sdn Bhd (STV), a subsidiary of SIRIM Bhd, has formed a strategic alliance with LD Micro Precision Sdn Bhd ( LDM), marking its continuous effort in commercialising micro precision grinding machine into the educational programme market segment.
Through a strategic alliance agreement, STV would become the marketing and sales window for the micro precision grinding machine manufactured by LDM, a statement from SIRIM said yesterday.
The agreement was signed by SIRIM president and group chief executive Prof Ir Dr Ahmad Fadzil Mohamad Hani and LDM director Lai Siaw Ling at a ceremony in Bayan Lepas, Pulau Pinang recently.
The synergistic partnership augured wel l wit h the Malaysia Commercialisation Year initiatives as it would bring outputs of research and development and innovation into the market.
“This is a success story for SIRIM on commercialisation where we facilitate technology transfer with the industry that could help them build knowledge in innovating technology on their own.
“In addition, this will enable the industry to produce equipment for the technical and vocational education and training sector to train its users on precision machine and its technology,” said Prof Ahmad Fadzil.
Af t e r goi n g t h rough difficulties in penetrating the market, he said the synergistic partnership between STV and LDM had nurtured precision micro grinding machine technology that would benefit the educational sector at the init ial commercia l isat ion phase.
SIRIM and Penang-based LDM had first collaborated in 2008 to produce a functional prototype known as 8- axis tool and cutter grinder. — Bernama
