Crocs off on wrong foot in Malaysia Cup
KUALA LUMPUR: Super League leaders Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT), Kedah and Perbadanan kemajuan Negeri Perak (PKNP) were among the teams to get off to a winning start when the Malaysia Cup competition got underway on Tuesday.
JDT mauled Sarawak 4- 0 on home turf, the Tan Sri Hassan Yunos Stadium, Larkin, with their Brazilian import Marcos Antonio opening scoring in the 11th minute followed by goals from Argentinian import Gabriel Guerra (26th, 73rd) and Natxo Insa ( 84th).
At the Darul Aman Stadium, Alor Setar, Kedah defeated Melaka United 2- 0 with Brazilian import Sandro da Silva putting them ahead in the 29th minute before Baddrol Bakhtiar sealed victory in the 63rd minute.
T-Team , however, lost 1- 2 to Premier League side PKNP at their home stadium, the Sultan Ismail Nasaruddin Shah Stadium in Kuala Terengganu.
Muhammad Shahrel Fikri was the hero for the visitors with his goals coming in the 22nd and 51st minutes while Mohamadou Samassa scored for the hosts in the 50th minute.
At the Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium in Kota Bharu , Kelantan were made to work hard before chalking up a 3-1 victory against UiTM 3-1.
Khairul Izuan Rosli netted a brace for The Red Warriors with his goals coming in the 41st and 62nd minutes before Abou Bakr Al Mel scored their third late in the match. UiTM’s consolation goal was scored by their Nigerian import Akanni-Sunday Wasiu in the 51st minute.
At the Perak Stadium in Ipoh, Perak defeated PKNS 2- 0 with Thiago Junior and Gilmar da Silva scoring for the hosts in the 71st and 79th minutes respectively.
At the Darul Makmur Stadium in Kuantan, Pahang were held to a 2-2 draw by Negeri Sembilan.
Matheus Alves Leandro scored both Pahang goals (58th and 63rd) while the visitors’ were netted by Desire William Behe (43rd) and Lee Andrew Tuck (76th).
At the Tun Abdul Razak Stadium, Jengka, Felda United and Kuala Lumpur played to a goalless draw.
Selangor also had to settle for a point when they only managed a 1-1 draw with Terengganu at the Selayang Stadium.
The Red Giants’ goal was netted by Rufino Segovia in the 43rd minute while Issey Nakajima replied for the visitors in the 64th minute. — Bernama
