Animal lovers invited to take part in Miri Pet Run 2017 this Aug 20
MIRI: Pet owners will have the chance to bring along their furry friends for a run during the Miri Pet Run 2017, slated for Aug 20 (Sunday) at Piasau Boat Club, from 4pm onwards.
The run is organised by the Institution of Engineers Malaysia, Young Engineers Section ( YES), supported by Miri Cats Community ( MCC) and sponsored by Golden Pet. Registration is now open for four categories – 2km Pet Run ( Dog), 2km Pet Run ( Cat), 5km Men’s Open and 5km Women’s Open.
A spokesperson of the event said there is no age restriction for the Pet Run categories, whilst participants must be aged 13 and above for the Men and Women’s Open categories.
“At the moment, nearly 100 people have registered for the run, of which there are 20 for the dog category. We are hoping for more entries for the cat category and are looking forward to a bigger crowd for our first run,” she said yesteday.

The winner of the Pet Run category will receive a RM350 worth pet shop voucher, while those placing second to fourth will get similar vouchers worth RM300, RM250 and RM200 respectively. Fifth to 10th-placed finishers will each receive a RM100 pet shop voucher.
As for the Men and Women’s Open categories, the top 10 finshers will each receive cash prizes. A participant who completes the entire route is guaranteed a finisher’s medal.
The closing date for registration is July 22. Registration fee is RM80 for each category.
