‘KTDTHB manifests excellence in producing quality human capital’
MIRI: Kolej Tun Datu Tuanku Haji Bujang ( KTDTHB) has proven its excellent track record by achieving success across both academic and co- curriculum aspects.
The school has bagged many titles such as ‘ Sekolah Bestari’ (Smart School), Excellent Cluster School, Microsoft Mentor School as well as the 1Malaysia Boarding School.
According to Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, the school is always ready to manifest the national education transformation system through collaborations, in preparing its students to become quality human capital.
“In line with its slogan ‘Leaders Are Born Here’ and its motto ‘Optimum’, the school has indeed produced many wise leaders and students who are competitive in various industries,” said Awang Tengah – a former student of KTDTHB.

Jubilee Dinner’ at the school hall on Saturday, marking 60th anniversary.
Also present were school principal Hashimah Zen, its parent-teacher association ( PTA) chairman Basil Thomas and KTDTHB Alumni Association chairman Donny Yong Ing Siew.
Awang Tengah said KTDTHB had undergone evolution and transformation in terms of position, roles and achievements.
Commenting on the anniversary dinner, he said it was a golden opportunity not only to celebrate the school’s outstanding achievements, but also to raise funds for activities meant to further boost the students’ academic and co- curricular performance.
“I believe that any activityplanned for the students can only be carried out when there is funding.”
At the dinner, Ahmad Lai announced a RM30,000 allocation from Awang Tengah, and another RM10,000 from himself for the school.
The KTDTHB 1975/76 alumni also donated RM10,000, which was presented by representatives Lim Swee Huat and Lim Chin Yong.
KTDTHB received its first batch of students in 1957, under the Colombo Assistance Scheme as a government secondary boarding school for rural students.
At that time, the school was known as Tanjong Lobang School. It was declared open in 1959 by the High Commissioner of New Zealand RL Hutchens.
The school was also the first government school here.
