EPF to hold talks on retirement planning

KUCHING: The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) will be organising an event called ‘Retirement Talk with EPF’ at the lower ground of tHe Spring Shopping Mall here this weekend (July 22 and 23) from 10am to 5pm.

The two- day event will feature talks on retirement such as ‘Retirement Advisory Services — Your First Step to Retirement Planning’, ‘EPF Withdrawal­s and Online Service Channels — Go Online and Explore e-Pengeluara­n’, and ‘Debt Management — Why It Affects Your Retirement’.

The three talks, in BM and English, are scheduled to be delivered on the first day at 10.30am–12pm, 12.30pm–1.10pm and 4.30pm–5pm; and 11.00am–11.30am, 12pm–12.30pm and 2.30pm–3pm on the second day.

EPF in a statement yesterday said it has been actively conducting several talks on retirement across the country to highlight potential issues concerning ageing given that Malaysia is rapidly moving towards becoming an aged nation by 2030, a time when 15 per cent of Malaysia’s population is expected to comprise the elderly.

On July 22, the event is expected to be officiated at by Minister in the Chief Minister’s Office ( Integrity and Ombudsman) Datuk Talib Zulpilip representi­ng Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg at 3pm with EPF chief executive officer Datuk Shahril Ridza Ridzuan also expected to attend.

In addition to the launch, visitors will also have the opportunit­y to register for i-Akaun, check their latest EPF statement with the EPF Mobile Team or meet EPF Retirement Advisory Service (RAS) and Credit Counsellin­g and Debt Management Agency (AKPK) officers for free consultati­ons on retirement and debt management on both days.

There will also be door gifts for early comers and quizzes with attractive prizes to be won.
