DALAT: Activities under the state Education Department’s Sports and Culture Association ( PSKPP) need to be carried out all year round, suggests Welfare, Community Well Being, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Fatimah Abdullah.

Speaking at the closing of district-level ‘ PSKPP Sarawak Carnival and Aidilfiltri 2017’ celebration at SMK Dalat on Saturday, she said the activities under PSKPP could be conducted either on weekly or monthly basis.

She believed such initiative could improve the quality of the ‘Dalat Champ’ programme.

“The ‘ Dalat Champ’, run with the help from various individuals, is an effective programme to produce students who can represent the state at national-level events.

“I am convinced that our activities under ‘ Dalat Champ’ can realise our goal of turning Dalat into a district that we are all proud of,” said Fatimah, who is Dalat assemblywoman.

She also believed that the programme could help boost the confidence in students for them to pursue their own goals through sports and other cocurricular activities, as well as prevent them, their teachers and other school staff from wasting their time and energy into doing things that are not beneficial.

“Education is not merely for the children to succeed academically, but also in life.

“As such, continue with your efforts in making ‘Dalat Champ’ a success,” she stressed, taking the chance to thank the Centre of Technical Excellence Sarawak ( Centexs) for guiding schoolleavers in their path towards technical education.
