K1Ms advised to open Facebook account, have own ‘journalists’

-

SIBU: State Information Department director Abang Sardon Abang Hashim wants each of the 235 Komuniti 1Malaysia ( K1M) to have a Facebook account.

Speaking at an Aidilfitri and Ngiling Bidai celebration at Tanahmas Hotel on Tuesday night, he said this is part of the effort to encourage K1M to use the technology in tandem with the chief minister’s idea that emphasises technology.

“We hope to create a community or a network of K1M journalists with their own style. I have high ambition to see all 235 K1M in the state to be active in their Facebook,” he said.

He added: “K1M cannot depend solely on the working journalists as they could not afford to do coverage on all K1M activities due to lack of manpower.

“They can cover big events of course, but on K1M levels, you have so many activities; they cannot afford to cover all of them.”

He said with their own journalists, K1M could promote K1M to the world in terms of their products and cultures.

“You can use your own style of writing of course, as long as the message is delivered,” he said.

He said as the bridge between the government and people, K1M has a role to inform the public on news regarding society, the state and the country.

Also present at the function were K1M Pelugau chairman Penghulu Thomas Jawa and K1M Rejang Park chairwoman Kong Leh En.
