Mohd Hakim takes charge of Miri football team
MIRI: Patient, calm and focused are words that others have used to describe football coach Mohd Hakimi Man.
And they are probably some of the reasons why Miri Division Football Association has decided that he is the one to lead the Miri FA team for the upcoming league campaign.
According to the man himself, it took some time for him to consider before he finally took up the offer by Miri FA.
But now that he’s taken up the challenge, Hakim is stressing the importance of determination, working harder than others and enhancing teamwork and to set aside issues that could dampen team spirit.
“These are the basic things that we need to understand before planning for our next step,” he told The Borneo Post yesterday.
He is speaking with experience and an impressive track record - the success of Bintulu in the Borneo Zone LBRW, Miri’s first ever title in the Sarawak Youth Cup for Under 19 and the historic victory by the Sarawak women’s team in the Sharifah Rodziah Cup.
“We need to keep looking forward and I will ensure the commitment and focus of all my team players and coaching staff will be maximized when undergoing training.
“They must understand the team’s objectives, teamwork ethics and to always stay focus with our duties,” he added on the tasks ahead.
He pushes his mantra that success is not due to a single person and team work is key.
He is therefore keeping all the coaching staff he has been working with in the past four years to facilitate their training system.
The coach, whose new appointment officially started yesterday, also wants to strike the right balance between experience and grooming young blood for his team.
“I need an ethical and disciplined senior player to help the team this year because, for sure, the young players will be the key to the revival of the Miri FA football team,” he said.
