Different challenges mean different ways of addressing drug problems — Tupong rep

-

KUCHING: The approach towards addressing and solving various social problems affecting today’s youths, such as the drug menace, must correlate with the changing times.

According to Tupong assemblyman Fazzruddin Abdul Rahman, different times present different challenges; thus, the steps and approaches in addressing drug problems affecting the youths have to be relevant to these changes.

“Who will be our future leaders if today’s youths today are involved in drug abuse? They wouldn’t be able to do it ( lead) if they’re high on drugs.

“Thus, we need to stop the drug menace in its tracks before it destroys more of our youths,” he said at the closing of the ‘Fight Drugs Menace’ campaign in Medan Niaga Satok here yesterday.

Moreover Fazzruddin, who is also Parti Besaka Bumiputera Bersatu ( PBB) Youth information chief, called upon every member of the community to be pro-active and cooperate with one another in ensuring that their respective neighbourhoods are free from the drug menace.

“Arm yourselves with knowledge in the fight against drug abuse.”

The campaign, run by the National Anti- Drug Agency (AADK), involved 63 participants from four villages from the Tupong constituency.

AADK Sarawak deputy director Kartina Ujin was also present at the ceremony.
