Rep to enhance firefighting facilities in Lingga

SRI AMAN: Lingga assemblywoman Simoi Peri yesterday held a meeting with state Fire and Rescue Department ( Bomba) director Nor Hisham Mohammad in his office at Tabuan Jaya in Kuching.

Simoi said among other things, the meeting was to discuss the proposal to build a fire station for the volunteer firefighters, the setting up of volunteer firefighters unit and community firefighters in Lingga constituency.

“The initiative is taken to reduce fire incidence and other disasters in Lingga area and to become a catalyst for the establishment of a responsible community,” she said.

Simoi said after she was briefed by Nor Hisham on the setting up of the volunteer firefighters unit and construction of a fire station for the volunteer firefighters, she agreed to provide allocation to enable Bomba to build a fire station for the volunteer firefighters at Maludam near here soon.

“After this, I will look into the construction of fire station for the volunteer firefighters unit and setting up of volunteer firefighters unit in Lingga, while in the other areas, we will establish community firefighters.

“I will cooperate with the state Bomba to ensure that the people’s needs especially in the prevention and handling of fires and other natural disasters will be further enhanced” she said.
