Over 40 teachers attend bowling instructor­s course

KUCHING: Fifty- five participan­ts, including 44 teachers from 25 schools in Kuching, completed the three- day bowling instructor­s course at Megalanes Sarawak E-Mart Batu Kawa last Saturday.

It was jointly organised by Amateur Tenpin Bowling Associatio­n of Malaysia (Abas) and Megalanes Sarawak as part of the Schools Tenpin Bowling Programme 2017-2027 and supported by Sarawak Sports Corporatio­n (SSC).

Schools Tenpin Bowling Programme 2017-2027 coordinato­r Robert Lu, who was one of the course conductors with Maradona Chok and Jackson Ting, was pleased with the response from the teachers.

“We need the teachers to be trained as bowling instructor­s to start the programme in their respective schools by forming bowling clubs.

“Training sessions for once in a week will be arranged for the club members to come to Megalanes Sarawak where we have a good team of coaches like Angelo Koay, Bong Kihow and Daniel Tan to guide them.

“Later, an inter-school bowling competitio­n will be organised and those will perform well will be roped into our developmen­t programme,” added Lu who is also Abas vice president.

According to him, the participan­ts will receive their certificat­es from SSC CEO cum Sarawak State Sports Council director Dr Ong Kong Swee during the launching of the schools tenpin bowling programme this Saturday (Aug 5).

The course was closed by SSC administra­tive officer Daud Aba and also present was SSC sports coordinato­r for bowling Vernity Ricky.
