Kuching’s Got Talent contest enters semi-final stage Saturday night

KUCHING: The public are invited to the Kuching’s Got Talent 2017 singing competitio­n semi-finals this Saturday and dance category and other talents category semi- finals the following night at 7pm in conjunctio­n with the ongoing Kuching Festival.

Kuching’s Got Talent is divided into four categories: Singing category 1 (12-years- old and below), Singing category 2 (above 13-years- old), Dance category and Other Talents category, said organising chairman Patrick Song at a press conference yesterday.

“We try to get more members of the public to come and see our homegrown talents. We had our audition on July 15-16 and the standard this year is very high. The youngest finalist is only four-years- old.”

Out of a total of 117 participan­ts, 20 each were selected for the Singing categories, 16 for the Dance Category and seven for the Other Talents category.

The grand final is on Aug 19 and Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan has been invited as the guest- of-honour.

Winners for the Singing category 1, first to third place take home RM1,500, RM1,000 and RM500 respective­ly plus a trophy each. Seven consolatio­n prize winners take home RM100 and a trophy each.

Winners for the Singing category 2 and Dance category, first to third place take home RM3,000, RM2,000 and RM1,000 respective­ly plus a trophy. Seven consolatio­n prize winners take home RM100 and a trophy each.

For the Other Talents category, first to third place take home RM2,000, RM1,500 and RM800 respective­ly plus a trophy. Consolatio­n prize winners take home RM100 and a trophy each.

There is also a special award for Facebook Most Liked Award. The photos of the finalists will be uploaded on the Kuching’s Got Talent 2017 Facebook page and the photo with the most ‘likes’ wins.
