State Mufti encourages more Chinese Muslims to become entrepreneurs

-

KUCHING: The initiative by the state branch of the Malaysian Chinese Muslims Association ( Macma) in encouraging its members to be involved in entrepreneurship is one that deserves praise and support.

According to Sarawak Mufti Datu Kipli Yassin, one area that the Chinese Muslim entrepreneurs should look into is the halal food industry.

“I commend Macma Sarawak for encouraging its members to take up entrepreneurship.

“I fully support this initiative. In this regard, I would like to see more Chinese Muslims involved in halal food manufacturing,” he spoke at the branch’s 18th annual general meeting (AGM) at the Sarawak Islamic Information Centre ( SIIC) here on Sunday, which was attended by about 100 people.

Moreover, Kipli also advised those present to maintain good relationship with their biological family members, especially their parents.

“You’re still a Chinese even after you have embraced Islam – you can opt to retain your Chinese name.

“Most importantly, maintain close relationship with your family. Allah SWT has commanded us to treat our parents well – irrespective of beliefs,” he said.

Meanwhile, Macma Sarawak chairman Mohammad Tony Ong expressed his gratitude on behalf of the association to all donors, as well as various governmental and non-governmental bodies, for their ongoing contributions to and collaborations with the branch over the years.

Later after the AGM, Kipli and Ong presented cash incentives totalling RM2,450 to 11 children of Macma Sarawak members who excelled in their public examinations last year.
