Ruco Chan prefers not to talk about his girlfriend Phoebe Sin
HONG KONG: Actor Ruco Chan has steadfastly refused to talk about girlfriend, model Phoebe Sin to protect her from bad press.
Ruco, who had previously been linked with the likes of actresses Nancy Wu and even Linda Chung, is very wary of “creative journalism”.
On his news blackout, Ruco explained: “I don’t want to talk about her because if the reports get too negative, these can affect her image. I can’t allow her to go through that.”
When newsmen remarked that he’s very protective of Phoebe, Ruco shot back: “There’s no other way. She still hasn’t given the audience anything to work with yet.
“It’s not like me. You guys can write about me. I have a safeguard. It’s not hard to admit (to dating her), but it is all about timing.”
Meanwhile, Nina Paw, Ruco’s on- screen mother in The Unholy Alliance, added some details to Ruco’s current relationship.
During a radio interview, she said: “It’s true that he rarely talks about those things with us. Sometimes I do get curious myself and ask him, like: ‘Are you dating now?’ ‘ Yes, mom!’ You know? Those kinds of questions.”
As to whether she had disclosed that Ruco is actually dating Phoebe, Nina quickly clarified: “No! I’m not trying to reveal anything! I’m just thinking that since my (onscreen) son is already all grown up he should be dating.
“That’s why when you guys asked, I just assumed he was. I would ask these questions on WhatsApp, and he would reply with a smiley face. I actually don’t know anything!”
In a phone interview, Ruco admitted that Nina had always wanted him to find a girlfriend, and at one point even tried to set him up with someone.
