Business made easier via MalaysiaBiz Portal
KUCHING: Entrepreneurs in Sarawak can now register their business as well as obtain licensing or permits from the relevant authorities with ease – thanks to the expansion of MalaysiaBiz Portal here.
Minister in Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Joseph Entulu officially launched the portal here yesterday.
According to him, MalaysiaBiz Portal was created to facilitate the registration of business licences in all government departments and agencies in Malaysia.
In the case of Sarawak, he said they (departments and agencies) achieved 100 per cent registration of agencies via MalaysiaBiz Portal.
“We are very happy with the cooperation given by the state government and we would like to thank SME Corp Malaysia for the successful implementation of this portal,” he told reporters after the ceremony.
Entulu said there are 99 licensing authorities, both at state and federal levels, in Sarawak – all of them are registered with MalaysiaBiz Portal.
He said whatever types of licensing that entrepreneurs – either from big, small and medium enterprises – want to apply, they are already on the portal.
“You can apply whatever licence from any of the licencing authorities via online now. Although there is overlapping with some of the state’s licensing authorities on our portal, we would try to iron them (issues) out,” he said.
Entulu said the Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit ( Mampu) wanted to create just one gateway; whereby when someone wanted to do a business they would just go to one gateway, one portal, to register their business and get their licence.
“So irrespective of whether they are in Kapit, Kanowit or Song, they don’t have to travel far anymore.
“One can just go to the portal and start to do their business as opposed to before, when one had to travel physically to the office to do one’s business,” he said.
Entulu said what Mampu had done was to have one single portal for the people to register their businesses, get their licences and start their businesses. He said in Sarawak alone, 26 local governments and agencies could process a total of 499 licences.
Aside from providing the local business community an easy and quick access to acquiring online information, MalaysiaBiz Portal also provides online registration and licensing applications to speed up the process of doing business and encourage local economic growth.
Assistant Minister of Industries and Investment Malcolm Mussen, Mampu director- general Datuk Dr Mazlan Yusoff and SME Corp Malaysia chief executive officer Datuk Dr Hafsah Hasim were also present at the launch.
