Serians break nine records at Kotas Meet
KUCHING: Swimmers from the Serian Amateur Swimming Association ( Serians) broke nine meet records at last weekend’s 7th Kuching- Kota Samarahan I nt er - S cho ol S w imm in g Championships.
In a press statement yesterday, the associat ion hai led the achievement and congratulated their swimmers.
“Our swimmer Tan Tyng set seven new meet records and won eight gold medals while Ayrton Lim set two meet records with two gold medals from his favourite events namely the 50m and 100m breaststroke,” the spokersperson said.
Tan was also awarded with Best Girl Swimmer in the 15-17 age category.
“Ser ia n s would l ike to express its appreciat ion to parents, coaches and sponsors for their cooperation, financial contribution and encouragement which enable the swimmers to have a peace of mind and focus when training as well as to give their best during the competition,” the statement added
The association is now looking forward to compete and perform wel l in the selection trial to represent the southern zone in Sukan Sarawak.
“We are delighted that the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports is bringing back Sukan Sarawak which will serve as a platform for athletes to compete and excel.”
The association, which is waiting for its affiliation with the Amateur Swimming Associaiton of Sarawak to be approved soon, is currently recruiting swimmers who are interested in joining its training programme.
