Kapayan rep Bosi quits DAP Sabah

-

KOTA KINABALU: Kapayan assemblyman Dr Edwin Bosi has left DAP Sabah.

Bosi, who was DAP Sabah deputy chairman, has said he is seeking a new plaform through which he will champion the rights of the people in the state.

Bosi in a statement yesterday said: “After consulting with leaders of DAP Penampang Branch I have decided to tender my resignation as a member of DAP and also as DAP Sabah deputy chairman as of 31st August 2017. I have submitted my resignation letter to DAP Sabah secretary on 24th August 2017.

“As deputy chairman, the difference between myself and the chairman Stephen Wong is miles apart. It is only fair that as reconciliation is not possible that I have to withdraw to allow the harmony within DAP Sabah to persist. The failed “Shanghai handshake” is the cornerstone of my decision to leave,” he said.

He claimed that the Sabah DAP Committee under Stephen had at first wanted to sack him but instead he was referred to the DAP National Disciplinary Committeewhichhandedathreemonth suspension without first calling him to defend himself before the said Committee. The suspension period ends end of this month.

“I bear no grudges against DAP and the national leaders. Here, I would like to thank DAP for giving me the opportunity to become a State Assemblyman. I shall always remember and treasure the great comradeship. Deep in my heart I know that our political struggle will always run parallel.

“As a Native or Anak Negeri in DAP I have taken and fought hard on many issues affecting my Native or Anak Negeri community. I have basically been guided by the three guarantees engraved on the Oath Stone (Batu Sumpah) in Keningau that is freedom of religion, land for the natives especially the NCR land and the preservation and protection of the Natives culture and tradition.

“I would like to thank all my supporters who voted for me during the 13th general election. I pray I have conducted myself well as their assemblyman, assisted those who came to see me and in general able to get and secure the help from the government department and agencies to alleviate the local problems facing my electorate,” he stressed.

The people deserve good leaders, according to Bosi, and it is for this reason that he had quit DAP Sabah to “seek a new platform to move forward my agenda to help the Native Anak Negeri and the people of Sabah in general”.

“My work for the betterment of my Anak Negeri community and Sabahans is moving ahead. The political scenario in our country is changing fast as we approach the 14th general election and I must appreciate DAP’s role and relevance in Malaya.

“For now I will remain as an independent lawmaker until I decide on a local political party that can, will fight, struggle for and with the indigenous people and the people of Sabah,” Bosi said.
