KUCHING: St Thomas’ Cathedral at Jalan McDougall will hold its annual Parish Sale tomorrow (Sept 9) from 7.30am to 12 noon.

The cathedral’s Dean, the Very Revd Michael Buma Galami, called on the public to spend the double public holiday of Agong’s Birthday and Governor’s Birthday meeting up and enjoying fellowship with one another at the sale.

“The purpose of the sale is to raise funds for the spiritual, welfare, and pastoral activities of the parish.

“There will be nearly 60 stalls set up by parishioners from the various ministries, who are working hard to prepare a wide variety of homemade delicacies for sale.

“We are calling on members of the public to come and support the sale,” he said in a press release yesterday.

Both cash and specially-printed parish sale coupons can be used to purchase various items such as chicken and pork pansuh, barbecued meat, kacang ma and special curries.

Also on sale will be homemade cakes, bread, pies, Nyonya kuih, biscuits, titbits and other delicious treats.

There will be a stall selling second-hand books, magazines, clothing and other pre-loved items.

A selection of wooden candle holders, goblets and trays specially handcrafted in England by a parishioner using wood unavailable locally such as yew, oak, holly, and cherry will also be on sale.

Donations of cash and kind are welcome.
