SIBU: Three projects have been installed at Taman Selera Harmoni to entice more customers to check out the food court, Taman Selera Harmoni traders’ committee chairman Abdul Taib Rosli said yesterday.

He said the installation works were carried out voluntarily by the traders themselves.

“The projects are among factors to lure visitors, especially new ones to Taman Selera Harmoni.

“The video to be played on the screen is from the subscription from Astro and those downloaded from Internet,” he said, adding that they have got Finas’ approval.

He also said due to the strong cooperation and spirit of volunteerism among the traders, this has reduced the cost of installation by nearly 60 per cent.

Touching on business, he noted traders there recorded almost 100 per cent increase in business with visitors numbering about 1,000 nightly.

He pointed out that the average number of visitors per night was about 1,000 while previously, visitors only came in big numbers during weekends or during certain time of the year.

According to Abdul Taib, since the completion of the upgrading to Taman Selera Harmoni last November, there had been a marked increase in the number of people visiting the food court.

He said among the pull factors were the ample parking bays in front of the food court and wellarranged chairs and tables.

Meanwhile, Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) deputy chairperson Rogayah Jamain urged traders there to be creative in their food offering in order to be more competitive.

Rogayah said the many food courts in Sibu had necessitated traders in Taman Selera Harmoni to be competitive, expressing hope to see the eatery becoming the most popular eatery in Sibu.
