Local bands to perform at KWJF preview show on Monday

KUCHING: The Kuching Waterfront Jazz Festival ( KWJF) will be hosting a preview show at The Wayang here on Sept 11, starting 8.30pm.

The free-for- all preview show, which will feature performances by local bands The UKBD Brothers Band and Swaiv, is expected to gather a crowd of upbeat jazz music lovers. The UKBD Brothers Band was founded by Kuching North Datuk Bandar Datuk Abang Abdul Wahap Abang Julai in early 2015.

With the strength of 10 musicians including the mayor himself and five vocalists, they have performed countless evergreen hit songs to entertain guests at various official functions.

Swaiv, on the other hand, is a band whose music is influenced by the relaxing sounds of bossanova, fusion pop jazz and more. These two bands will provide an eclectic yet harmonious range of music performances that will surely entertain music lovers of all ages.

On top of that, lucky audience members will also stand a chance to win five tickets to Day One of KWJF, simply by answering some easy questions during the preview show.

The preview show is an introduction to the inaugural KWJF which will be held on Sept 29 and 30 at the Grand Margherita Hotel here. The two- day jazz music festival will feature a total of 17 acclaimed jazz musicians and bands from all over the region and other parts of the world. Among them are Sheila Majid ( Malaysia), Ernie Watts ( USA), Jeremy Monteiro ( Singapore), Kunto Aji ( Indonesia) and Shanghai Sisters ( Malaysia).
