MPN to produce writeup on country’s deve��opment

PUTRAJAYA: The National Council of Professors ( MPN) will produce a write- up on the country’s developmen­t based on the spirit of nationhood to be used as reference by the Prime Minister’s Department and the relevant quarters, said its chief executive officer Prof Datuk Dr Raduan Che Rose.

He said it would be produced based on the thinking of four academicia­ns at a discourse to be held on Sept 13 at Universiti Putra Malaysia ( UPM).

He told reporters at his office that the discourse ‘ Wacana Ilmuan, Negaraku Malaysia: Di Mana, Ke Mana Kita?’ would feature academicia­ns from various background.

They include MPN deputy chairman Distinguis­hed Professor Datuk Dr Shamsul Amri Baharuddin, MPN History, Heritage and SocioCultu­re Cluster head Prof Datuk Dr Teo Kok Seong, MPN National Unity Cluster secretary Prof Dr Sivamuruga­n Pandian and Director of Tun Fatimah Hashim Women Leadership Centre, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia ( UKM) Associate Prof Dr Madeline Berma, he said.

Raduan said the ‘ Malam Laungan Rasa Sehati Sejiwa’ would also be held the same day as part of an initiative to enhance patriotism and love for the country in conjunctio­n with Malaysia Day on Sept 16.

It would be a night of poetry recitals by 20 academicia­ns, he said, adding that they included Assoc Prof Lim Swee Tin, Prof Datuk Rahman Shaari, Dr Raja Rajeswari Seetha Raman and the recipient of the 2017 Distinguis­hed Malay Award Tan Sri Mohd Yusoff Latif.

There would also be a musical performanc­e by UPM and a war dance by students of Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia ( UPNM). — Bernama
