Sarawak late in submitting report not disqualified from M’sia League
KUCHING: Football Association of Sarawak (FAS) secretary Razali Dolhan brushed aside allegations that Sarawak will not be given the licence to compete in the Malaysia League in the next season.
He said the reason given by Football Association of Malaysia ( FAM) in a statement that was published by several news portals that FAS was late in submitting all necessary documents to Football Malaysia Liabi lity Limited Partnership (FMLLP) an not that FAS had failed to meet certain criteria.
Razali explained that FAS had submitted the report requested by FMLLP as there was a change in the FAS leadership last year.
“However, FAS had submitted the said report several days ago and are only waiting for the decision reached by the FAM meeting on Sept 15,” he said.
The FAS secretary believes that a positive result would be achieved by both parties and FAS are waiting for the official reply from FAM on the matter.
Razali said the late submission was because the new exco needed some time to get several documents from the previous FAS management.
Several news portals reported on Saturday that five teams - Sarawak, Felda United, Kedah, Kelantan and Melaka United failed to meet the criteria set by the national football governing body.
According to Bernama, Super League champions Johor Darul Ta’azim (JDT) were among the seven out of the 12 Super League teams given the licence to compete in the next season.
