Kpg Malaysia Jaya folk hold joint National Day, village’s anniversar­y do

KUCHING: The residents of Kampung Malaysia Jaya here took the opportunit­y to combine the 38th anniversar­y of their village and National Day into one festive celebratio­n.

The colourful do at the village community hall last Sunday commenced with a talk on independen­ce, followed by a procession by the villagers and culminated in an anniversar­y dinner.

Private secretary to Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusuf, Morshidi Said praised the Kampung Malaysia Jaya folk for demonstrat­ing and upholding the spirit of cooperatio­n and solidarity, hoping that this would continue for generation­s to come.

“I would like to congratula­te the organising committee on the success of this event. I also commend them for engaging the youths to be part of this celebratio­n,” he said.

Adding on, Morshidi reminded all to continue nurture the spirit of patriotism and love for the country in themselves, especially in the young ones.

“We must always honour and remembers the struggles and sacrifices of our forefather­s in attaining independen­ce, so that we the next generation could have a better future,” he stressed.

The joint National Day-village anniversar­y celebratio­n was jointly organised by Kampung Malaysia Jaya Neighbourh­ood Watch, Masjid Darul Abidin committee and the local subbranch of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu ( PBB).
