MARUDI: SK Rumah Gudang headmistress Sarimah Hamid has high hopes for all the nine candidates of this year’s Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah ( UPSR) to do well in the examination.

According to her, the teachers have been going all out in providing the Primary 6 pupils with tuition and revision classes to make sure that their charges would be prepared for UPSR.

“Indeed, they (teachers) are a dedicated lot – they’re willing to run extra classes even during holidays. And they did it without me having to direct them to do it – they did it voluntarily,” she told reporters at the school yesterday, which marked the first day of this year’s UPSR – commencing with the Bahasa Melayu papers. Moreover, Sarimah also commended the parents and guardians for their all- out moral support and involvement in their children’s education, as well as to the school’s support staff who strove to take care of the wellbeing of the pupils.

“They (support staff) make sure that the children’s drinks and snacks are ready by break time – they even prepare refreshments for the extra classes.

“The parents and guardians are all- out supportive as well. All of them attended a ‘Majlis Izin Ilmu’ held by us recently, where they conducted prayers in the hope that their children would do well for UPSR. Even today, all of them are at the school, wishing the pupils good luck.

“The same goes for us – we pray for the children’s success as well,” she said.
