Social worker achieves personal milestone in act of charity

-

KUCHING: Volunteer social worker Lim Chee Haw recently performed his 700th act of charity by assisting a poor family in Musi, Bau district.

Lim said he was contacted by a concerned member of the public regarding the family’s predicament since the parents struggle to sustain the needs of their four school- going children with their meagre income.

He had managed to gather a group of Good Samaritans to pool funds to buy essential food items for the family to reduce their financial burden. Together with some donors, they went to deliver the items to Musi where they also advised the children to do well in their studies in order to excel in life and help their parents.

“I must thank the donors for answering my request to help this family. I am always ready to assist those who want to give back to society, especially to help the needy and poor irrespective of race and religion,” said Lim, who now devotes his life to social work after retiring from the Marine Police.

On another matter, Lim said poor families facing difficulties during bereavement can contact him on 082-248153 or 016- 8070388 if they need help to get coffins for burial service.

He revealed that Good Samaritans had purchased coffins at a coffin shop at Mile 3 here which are ready to be delivered upon request. So far, he has delivered coffins to families as far away as Sri Aman, Bau and Serian.
