KUCHING: Mamacare Sarawak service providers are urged to be more aggressive in marketing their services to become more popular in order to enjoy more customers.

According to permanent secretary to the Ministry of Welfare, Community Well Being, Women, Family and Childhood Development Dr Saadiah Abdul Samat, Mamacare Sarawak has not done enough in terms of marketing, and ought to do more.

Mamacare is an initiative of 1Malaysia Women Initiative and Self Empowerment (1MWISE) under the National Blue Ocean Strategy ( NBOS), whereby the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development is responsible for empowering the capacity development of single mothers and senior citizens, mainly in the aspect of providing traditional and modern massage and post natal care to mothers.

“I believe that Mamacare Sarawak can do more and should think of aggressive marketing to introduce its services and attract more clients,” she said yesterday, at the closing of a Mamacare Sarawak workshop at a hotel here, organised by the National Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN) and NBOS.

A total of 20 Mamacare service providers participated in the fourday workshop.

She urged the providers to promote the service through social media, especially as the state is embarking towards the digital economy, stressing that the ministry was willing to help.

“The ministry is willing to help in providing training for the digital economy,” she pointed out.

Dr Saadiah also said the conventional approach to promote the service can also still be used to attract clients and suggested that the providers offer promotions to offices, government and private hospitals and clinics.

According to LPPKN. Mamacare Sarawak has 73 service providers at the moment, comprising Malay, Chinese, Iban, Bidayuh and Dusun individuals aged between 20 and 69.

B ased on reports from Mamacare Sarawak, they have provided services to some 11,544 clients from Oct 2014 until July this year.

Also present was state LPPKN director Rohaini Ahmad.
