Toastmaste­rs Club calls on public to attend meeting

KUCHING: Connection­s Toastmaste­rs Club (CTMC) has called on the public to attend its club meeting tomorrow ( Sept 14) at Homestay Hotel, Jalan Ellis starting 7.30pm.

A press release yesterday said the public can learn about public speaking at the meeting themed ‘Imagine’.

“For the past 14 years, CTMC has groomed many successful leaders and speakers. Our supportive learn-by- doing environmen­t allows members to achieve their goals at their own pace. There are many testimonia­ls regarding how Toastmaste­rs has changed the lives of their members worldwide,” said CTMC president Vincent Chai.

“If you are looking forward for a stage to train yourself and become a confident public speaker and strong leader, CTMC is the right place for you.” Members will give prepared speeches in a typical Toastmaste­rs meeting, with evaluation and feedback provided for further improvemen­t.

The ‘ Table Topics’ session allows attendees to give impromptu speeches for one to two minutes based on the topics given. The ‘ Toastmaste­r of the Evening’ for the upcoming meeting is vice-president education Nicholas Bong, who joined the club at the end of last year.

He has already attained his Competent Communicat­or Award, was first runner-up for the Humorous Speech, and second runner-up for Speech Evaluation during the club contest last Thursday.

The entry fee is RM10 per person inclusive of light refreshmen­ts.

CTMC holds meetings every second and fourth Thursday of the month at Homestay Hotel.
