KDC to hold community programme at Rh Sekang

KAPIT: The Kapit District Council will hold its fourth Community Development and Local Agenda (LA) 21 Programme for Kapit District under Pelagus Zone at Rumah Sekang @ Sigan Renggie, Nanga Belabot, Baleh on Sept 21-22.

KDC deputy Walikota Lawrence Listin Baling said the programme seeks direct community participation and to enhance closer rapport between the community and the council.

He said the outreach programme will provide information to the grassroots on KDC’s services and community development programmes.

There will be preventive fogging, talks by the various government agencies, counter service, gotong-royong, telematch, children’s colouring contest, cooking demonstration, and health screening.

Also in the programme will be a fire prevention talk followed by a firefighting demonstration, and a talk by the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism.

Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi is scheduled to officially close the event.

KDC has also scheduled a Community Development and LA21 Programme for Bukit Goram Zone at Rumah Rambor, Sungai Melipis next month, while for Belaga Zone, the programme is scheduled to be held at Uma Sekapan, Belaga in November.

Earlier this year, KDC held similar programmes at Rumah Ansie, Nanga Sepajie for Baleh Zone; Uma Kelab, Sungai Asap for Murum Zone; and at Rumah Melayu, Nanga Latong for Katibas Zone.
