Nelson Ng wins Borneo Tropical Rainforest Photo Competition
MIRI: Nelson Ng was adjudged champion at the recent Borneo Tropical Rainforest Photo Competition, beating 21 other contestants.
Ng bagged a cash prize of RM1,000 and a certificate of participation.
Second was Gary Chia, who won himself a cash prize of RM600. In third place was Anthony Wong who took home RM300.
Meanwhile, Bong Chee Khoon, Chew Gain Ping, Aaron Sim Jun Chiek and Kho Bian Chong won the consolation prize, each taking home RM150.
“We were actually thrilled and happy with the response from shutter bugs from Miri as this shows that their enthusiasm is still very much alive.
“In fact, taking pictures in the jungle environment is never an easy task. It involves a lot of observation, sharp focus and fast hands. From 63 entries that we had received from contestants, we realised that there are a lot of local talents that deserve to be recognised,” said organising chairman Rick Wong.

Resort ( BTRR), the competition was held from July 29 to September 30 and was an opportunity for locals to enjoy Miri’s own natural heritage.
“Borneo Tropical Rainforest is not only rich in its greenery attractions, the resort which is 40km from Miri City is filled with many rare exotic animals that await many to discover, and we hope that these shutter bugs had truly enjoyed themselves,” said Wong.
The prize giving ceremony was held last Sunday at the resort. Besides the participants, it was also attended by the resort’s managing director Lau Ren Hua, executive director Jack Lau, MPS chairman Ir Sylvester Wong and vice chairwoman Anny Soo.
The judges were Leong Choon Min and Loi Huei Jong.
