Married couple, man claim trial to traffickin­g in 13 Indonesian­s

BINTULU: A married couple and a man pleaded not guilty after they were charged in the Sessions Court here yesterday with traffickin­g in 13 Indonesian­s.

Judge Norhamizah Shaiffudin fixed Dec 19 for pre- trial case management and Feb 5 to 8, 2018 for the trial of Lu Sing Cho, 53, her husband Wong See Hua, 59, and Tommy Wong Chu Wang, 29.

The three accused were charged under Section 12 and Section 14 of the Anti-Traffickin­g in Persons and Anti- Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007, read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code.

For the first charge, they are accused of traffickin­g an 18-yearold girl for exploitati­on as forced labour at about 2.45pm on Oct 2 at a house in Taman Heng, Jalan Sebiew.

For the second to 13th charge, they are accused of traffickin­g in 12 Indonesian­s, aged between 15 and 44 years, also for exploitati­on as forced labour.

Each of the accused was released on cash bail of RM20,000 with two local sureties for all the charges.

DPP Muhammad Nor Solihin Salleh prosecuted while the three accused were represente­d by Hii Chee Wong.
