Alert neighbours stop fire from razing house

-

MIRI: Swift action by neighbours saved a house at Jalan Hokkien here from being gutted yesterday.

The fire was believed to have started around 7.45am from a room in the house whose tenant was away at that time.

Fortunately, several neighbours became aware of the situation and entered the house to douse the flames before it could spread.

Personnel from the Fire and Rescue Department were dispatched to the scene following a distress call, and arrived to learn the fire had already been extinguished.

An estimated at 30 per cent of the room was damaged as a result of the fire.
