KUCHING: Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Joseph Entulu Belaun is willing to explain the Native Customary Right ( NCR) concept of ‘Pemakai Menoa’ and ‘Pulau Galau’ (PMPG) to the federal government if the need arises.

He said even though the issue is under the purview of the state government, he is willing to do his part to explain the PMPG concept as he is a Dayak leader in the Federal Cabinet.

“I’m willing to assist if need be because the federal government may need to know the concept clearer. So I am willing to explain it whenever I’m needed,” Entulu told The Borneo Post here yesterday.

It has been reported by some news portals that Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak ( PBDS) Baru president Cobbold John Lusoi would bring at least 80 landowners to stage a peaceful rally at the Federal Court in Putrajaya on Nov 7.

According to Cobbold, the intention is to express their discontent on many issues affecting them, especially the recent ruling of the Federal Court to reverse the decisions of both the High Court and Court of Appeals against the landowners of Kampung Lebur.

Cobbold had also said that he wanted to bring the landowners to Putrajaya so that the Federal Government would return the land to the rightful owners.

On a related issue, Entulu, who is also PRS deputy president, said the RM30 million annual allocation from the federal government for the state’s Land and Survey Department to carry out perimeter survey on NCR land is sufficient and hoped the department will maximise its use so that the state government could bid for more funding in future.

“We hope that the allocation will be fully utilised by the state’s Land and Survey Department, so that more NCR land owners will get their land titles,” he said.

On the 2018 Budget as announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak last Friday, Entulu described it as ‘comprehensive’ and would benefit all strata of society.

“In fact, a large amount of money is still allocated to subsidise goods in Sarawak and Sabah so that the prices of goods and services would remain the same as in major towns and cities in the country,” he said, citing cooking oil, rice and cooking gas as examples of such rationalisation exercise which benefit people in the rural areas.

Meanwhile, Entulu, who is also Selangau MP, refused to comment on his candidacy for the upcoming 14th General Election, saying it was best to leave the matter to top BN leaders.
