Mobile search group welcomes better Internet connections in Sabah, Sarawak

-

KUCHING: Southeast Asia’s leading Meta- Search platform iPrice Group are encouraged by the allocation of RM1 billion under Budget 2018 to improve the communications infrastructure in East Malaysia.

Its senior vice president (growth) Matteo Sutto said iPrice Group hoped this will provide better broadband mobile internet connections to further spur online shopping from Sabah and Sarawak.

“Our recent research on East Malaysian online shoppers showed that shoppers in the two states spent 75 per cent more time searching for products online and are 10 per cent more likely to shop using a desktop as compared to those in West Malaysia.

“This was because consumers find it easier to shop via desktop as it provides a more stable internet connection,” he said.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, when tabling the Budget 2018 last Friday, announced an allocation of RM1 billion through Malaysia Communications and Multimedia Commission ( MCMC) to develop communication infrastructures and broadband facilities in Sabah and Sarawak.
