Giant Supermarke­t at Wisma Sanyan to close down this Nov 6

SIBU: The Giant Supermarke­t will close down its outlet on the ground f loor of Wisma Sanyan here this Nov 6.

An officer of the retail chain disclosed this yesterday, adding that Nov 5 ( Sunday) would be the last day of business for this branch, which opened its doors in 2003.

According to the officer, who spoke under anonymity, the employees have been waiting for confirmati­on about the status of the Wisma Sanyan branch from the headquarte­rs.

Last week, Giant brand owner GCH Retail ( Malaysia) Sdn Bhd in a press statement said it would cease the operations of five Giant stores in Malaysia – Sri Manjung, Sungai Petani, Shah Alam City Centre Mall, Wisma Sanyan in Sibu and Selayang Lama – this Nov 5, following the leasing expiry for these premises.

GCH Retail also stated that it had reviewed its operations and made the decision to improve its efficiency and productivi­ty.

“Giant will relocate its Bercham store to a location that is double the size of the Bercham store, to provide more offerings and products, as well as convenienc­e for its customers.

“In addition, GCH Retail will re-launch a new exciting concept store by Cold Storage in KLCC by end of this year,” said the GCH Retail statement.
