JPNIN workshop gathers 70 RT members from all over Kapit

KAPIT: Seventy committee members from 22 neighbourh­ood committees ( RTs) in Kapit, Bukit Mabong and Song districts took part in a recent workshop conducted by Kapit National Unity and Integratio­n Department (JPNIN) at the conference room of the civic centre here recently.

The speaker was JPNIN Kapit Neighbourh­ood and Community Relations Unit officer Rose Jonathan Garau, who discussed these topics – ‘Roles and Directions of RTs’, ‘ RT Reporting and Financials’, ‘Implementa­tion of RT Activities’ and ‘ The e-RT System’ – with the participan­ts.

According to JPNIN Kapit officer Wesly Johnny, the key task of any RT is to promote friendline­ss to every member of a neighbourh­ood, especially in the context of Sarawak – home to a diverse society.

“We want to instil a sense of respect, tolerance and unity in every member of the Malaysian communitie­s irrespecti­ve of different social, racial and religious background­s,” he said.

The workshop participan­ts are members of the RT units from Kapit Selatan, Bletih, Selirik, Nanga Banyau, Sungai Banyau, Sungai Sesibau Zone 1 and 2, Sungai Pulang, Selirik Tengah, Kampung Gelam, Nanga Sebaning, Jalan Tekan Song, Pekan Song, Nanga Semulong, Nanga Temalat, Kampung Baru, Nanga Sebelanda, Nanga Plak Bena, Genturong Sri Sawang, Jalan Airport, Nanga Sebabu and Gunasama Flat Quarters. Later, they were presented with the certificat­es of attendance from Rose.
