Sarawak Energy hosts fun-filled gathering for Miri media fraternity

MIRI: Sarawak Energy Bhd (SEB) treated some 100 members of the local press to a fun- filled gathering at Piasau Boat Club here recently.

Themed ‘ Beach Kids’, the ‘ Media Appreciati­on Day’ was hosted by the group’s corporate communicat­ions department.

Reporters, photograph­ers and editorial staff from various press organisati­ons based here had an enjoyable day at the beach, where they took part in various games.

The Green Team emerged overall winner of the games, with the Yellow and Pink teams placing respective runner-ups.

According to SEB head of corporate communicat­ions Pieng Tajang, the annual event is meant to show the group’s appreciati­on to the media fraternity for their continued support and assistance throughout the years.

“This is a good opportunit­y for all of us to get together in this very relaxing environmen­t. We are thankful to the media for all these years and we hope to foster better relationsh­ip and work together with them for many years to come,” she spoke during a dinner reception that concluded the event.

Federation of Sarawak Journalist­s Associatio­n president, who is also the president of Northern Sarawak Journalist­s Associatio­n ( NSJA), Andy Jong expressed his gratitude to SEB for its RM50,000 sponsorshi­p for this year’s Kenyalang Journalism Awards, to be hosted here next month.

The highlight of the night was the lucky draw offering the grand prize of an electric grill.

SEB Miri station manager Erang Ngang and the staff from SEB Miri office were joined by the corporate communicat­ions team from SEB Kuching office at the event.
