Sarawak Energy hosts fun-filled gathering for Miri media fraternity
MIRI: Sarawak Energy Bhd (SEB) treated some 100 members of the local press to a fun- filled gathering at Piasau Boat Club here recently.
Themed ‘ Beach Kids’, the ‘ Media Appreciation Day’ was hosted by the group’s corporate communications department.
Reporters, photographers and editorial staff from various press organisations based here had an enjoyable day at the beach, where they took part in various games.
The Green Team emerged overall winner of the games, with the Yellow and Pink teams placing respective runner-ups.
According to SEB head of corporate communications Pieng Tajang, the annual event is meant to show the group’s appreciation to the media fraternity for their continued support and assistance throughout the years.
“This is a good opportunity for all of us to get together in this very relaxing environment. We are thankful to the media for all these years and we hope to foster better relationship and work together with them for many years to come,” she spoke during a dinner reception that concluded the event.
Federation of Sarawak Journalists Association president, who is also the president of Northern Sarawak Journalists Association ( NSJA), Andy Jong expressed his gratitude to SEB for its RM50,000 sponsorship for this year’s Kenyalang Journalism Awards, to be hosted here next month.
The highlight of the night was the lucky draw offering the grand prize of an electric grill.
SEB Miri station manager Erang Ngang and the staff from SEB Miri office were joined by the corporate communications team from SEB Kuching office at the event.
