M’sia to host Commonweal­th Youth Summit Friday

CYBERJAYA: Beginning Friday, Malaysia will host a three- day Commonweal­th Youth Summit, a biennial gathering of youth ministers, senior government officials, youth leaders and thinktanks.

Commonweal­th Youth Council ( CYC) chairman Kishva Ambigapath­y said the summit themed ‘An Intergener­ational Convergenc­e’, would be attended by more than 350 selected youth leaders from 53 Commonweal­th countries to explore four emerging developmen­t issues.

The issues are Climate Policy and Finance; Digital Economy and Entreprene­urship; Peace-building and Global Inequality; and Social Cohesion.

Ambigapath­y said among prominent figures participat­ing at the summit are Prince of Wales, Prince Charles, who will be making his maiden visit to Malaysia; Malaysia’s Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin and his Jamaicain counterpar­t, Floyd- Green, and Commonweal­th Deputy SecretaryG­eneral Dr Josephine Ojiambo. — Bernama
