LBS’ Tan Sri Lim Hock San wins ACES leadership award
PETALING JAYA: LBS Bina Group Bhd (LBS) group managing director, Tan Sri Lim Hock San’s, leadership style gained him recognition as an ‘Outstanding Leader In Asia’ at the recent Asia Corporate Excellence & Sustainability Awards (ACES) held in Singapore.
“I am humbled to receive this prestigious recognition. The success and growth LBS has enjoyed over the years is the result of a collective effort. So this award is also a significant achievement for the LBS team and recognition of their hard work and loyalty,” said Lim in a statement.
The Outstanding Leaders in Asia award is one of 12 award categories under the ACES umbrella. It recognises exceptional leaders who demonstrate sound leadership and successfully apply it to spearhead growth and prominence for their respective organisations.
Additionally, deserving recipients exhibit an ideal blend of business acumen, professionalism, entrepreneurial calibre and astuteness.
Lim was chosen as this year’s recipient from a total of 180 nominated leaders from across Asia. Honouring leaders with a solid set of values, the ACES panel were impressed with Tan Sri Lim’s ability to communicate his vision to LBS employees, evident through the sustainable growth of the Group over the years.
“The road to success is filled with challenges. At LBS, we believe the secret to overcoming our challenges is to set a goal and work together to achieve it. This includes exploring different strategies and including employees in the problem solving process. I personally believe it is important to be open to new ideas and be bold in entrusting employees with responsibilities to help them grow. This creates a fulfilling workplace, and is also demonstrates appreciation towards the contribution of our employees. At the end of the day, the point is to be the best at what we do and to keep progressing,” explained Lim.
Lim took over the business from his father back in 1982. His leadership and foresight has led to numerous milestones beginning with the transformation of LBS from a construction company to a property developer in 1992. Another key milestone for LBS took place during the Asian financial crisis in 1997. In those trying times, LBS, with at the helm, made a strategic move to concentrate on developing medium-low cost homes.
