Masir hopeful Marine Police will be deployed at dams ‘soon’
SIBU: Deputy Home Minister Datuk Masir Kujat hopes that Marine Police personnel will soon be stationed at all major dams in Sarawak to strengthen the security of the government’s prime assets.
He said he supported the move and has already raised the matter with Inspector- General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun.
“I have raised the need for such deployment (of Marine Police personnel). Hopefully Tan Sri IGP (Mohamad Fuzi) will instruct the commander of the Marine Police to start initiating this good move,” Masir said when contacted Tuesday.

Salehuddin said the move was to ensure that Bakun, as an important state asset, was wellprotected, and that a working paper for the purpose had been submitted to Bukit Aman for approval.
On the RM9 billion allocation for the police announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak during the tabling of Budget 2018, Masir noted that RM250 million was for Eastern Sabah Security Command ( ESSCom) to beef up security within Sabah and Sarawak, including RM50 million for coastal surveillance radar.
He also said that RM50 million will go towards increasing assets of the police special force to counter terrorism.
“Besides that, RM700 million is to build 11 police headquarters and six police stations, while RM170 million is for ICT improvement and RM100 million for upgrading of communication system.
“The Prime Minister also announced that 10,000 units of housing will be built for the police,” added the Sri Aman MP.
