Warisan’s vice-president date with MACC headquarters postponed
KOTA KINABALU: In an unexpected turn of event, the Malaysian Anti- Corruption Commission ( MACC) postponed its order to summon Parti Warisan Sabah ( Warisan) vice president Datuk Peter Anthony to its Putrajaya headquarters, just one hour and thirty minutes after making the call on Tuesday morning.
Yesterday, Peter was ordered to present himself at the MACC office in Kota Kinabalu to facilitate investigations on an undisclosed case.
During the meeting, MACC officers had ordered Peter to go to the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya the following day (today), for further investigation.
However, about an hour and thirty minutes after receiving the order, Peter’s lawyer was contacted by the MACC to inform that his client’s appointment at the Putrajaya headquarters has been postponed, until future notice.
No reason was given by the MACC as to why the appointment was postponed, Peter said.
Warisan vice president, Junz Wong, told reporters that they will be applying for the said case to be investigated here in Kota Kinabalu, citing Peter’s unstable health condition as one of the reasons.
“If you want to arrest him, just arrest him here since all the investigations and witnesses were conducted and called here,” Junz suggested, adding that they might even file for a judicial review against the said order.
Meanwhile, when met later in the evening, Peter disclosed that the investigation was in regard to an ‘old case’, which took place about two and half years ago. Peter further explained that one of the cases being investigated is in regard to the Universiti Malaysia Sabah maintenance contract.
