Orang Ulu community pledges support to Abg Johari

MIRI: The Orang Ulu community here continue to show their support for Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg on his vision and efforts to transform Sarawak into a high income economy by 2030 and ensuring that every community in the state would receive and enjoy developmen­t.

Federation of Orang Ulu Associatio­ns of Sarawak, Malaysia ( Forum) vice-president Dennis Ngau, who is also Telang Usan assemblyma­n, said with Abang Johari taking over as captain of Team Adenan, the Orang Ulu community is fully confident and assured that their beloved state would continue to be in safe hands.

Addressing the Chief Minister, Dennis said: “You are a seasoned, tested leader with vast and invaluable experience which are needed to be an effective captain. Coupled with the solid support from your three trusted Deputy Chief Ministers and hardworkin­g and committed cabinet team, there is no doubt that the state will sail with ease into a new era.

“We are confident of your appointmen­t, The Right Honourable Chief Minister, as you are the right person to take our state to a new height in developmen­t both physical and economical­ly.”

Dennis is also the organising chairman of the special dinner organised by Forum at a leading hotel here recently, which was attended by over 1,000 guests.

The dinner themed ‘Celebratin­g Your Appointmen­t’ was held to celebrate and welcome Abang Johari as the state’s sixth Chief Minister.

Dennis reassured Abang Johari that Forum, being the umbrella body that unites the multi- ethnic Orang Ulu community in the state, will stand solidly behind him.

“We will do all we can to ensure your vision and efforts to transform Sarawak into a high income state will be supported by our community in towns, cities and most importantl­y our people living up there in the longhouses scattered all over Baram, Lawas, Belaga, Limbang and surroundin­g areas,” said Dennis.

Dennis pointed out that Sarawak is blessed to have a capable leader with such vision and is very uptodate with current happenings in the world which is a great and supremely important quality needed in today’s fast changing world.

“Indeed we are truly excited about our state’s future.

“We, the Orang Ulu community, would like to be part of your plans and hopefully to contribute to the success of the state, with your strategic developmen­t agendas focusing on digital economy and other policies that you have rolled out since taking over the helm of the state leadership a few months ago,” he added.

Abang Johari’s wife Datin Patinggi Dato Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang, Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, State Legislativ­e Assembly Deputy Speaker Dato Gerawat Gala, Assistant Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Lee Kim Shin, Assistant Minister of Local Government Datu Dr Penguang Manggil, Assistant Minister of Women, Family and Childhood Developmen­t Rosey Yunus, Miri mayor Adam Yii, Senator Datuk Lihan Jok, Piasau assemblyma­n Datuk Sebastian Ting, Baram MP Anyi Ngau, Lambir assemblyma­n Ripin Lamat, Murum assemblyma­n Kennedy Chukpai Ugon, Kabong assemblyma­n Mohd Che Kadir, Forum president Antonio Khati Galis, a political secretary to the Chief Minister Charles Balan Seling and Miri Resident Sherina Hussaini were among those present.
