HSL to hold blood donation campaign at Boulevard this Saturday

-

KUCHING: Construction specialist Hock Seng Lee Bhd ( HSL) is organising a blood donation drive at Boulevard Shopping Mall here this Saturday (Nov 11).

The firm is responding to a call from Sarawak General Hospital’s blood bank which is currently low on Type A and Type AB blood.

This is the first time HSL is organising such an event.

“We have always wanted to host or sponsor a blood donation campaign. A member on our board of directors, Dr Chou Chii Ming, is the deputy chairman of Malaysian Red Crescent, Kuching District,” said corporate affairs manager Shirley Loo in their press statement yesterday.

“After we wrapped up Green Week event last month, we wondered what next? A blood donation campaign is a direct way to contribute to society. Helping us is Boulevard Shopping Mall which is offering the space free of charge and the Malaysian Red Crescent.”

All donors would receive goody bags apart from food and drinks, Loo added.

HSL’s Green Week is a twice yearly week-long recycling campaign. Office materials are mostly sent for recycling, while contributions from staff such as clothes are donated to charities.

The firm’s other corporate social responsibility programmes included Lunar New Year donations to non- governmental bodies including Sarawak Blood Donor Society, Cheshire Home, Salvation Army, Mental Health Association, Hospice Society, and Society for Critically Sick Children.

“We also sponsor our staff on events like The Spring’s Live Active Run, CMS Tribal Run, and recently, the World Heart Day’s 2km Heart Walk,” Loo said.

This Saturday’s blood donation will be at Boulevard’s new wing on the second floor from 10am to 2pm.
