Connections Toastmasters Club to hold meeting tomorrow

KUCHING: Connections Toastmasters Club (CTMC) is to hold its club meeting tomorrow at 7.30pm at Homestay Hotel along Jalan Ellis here.

The meeting is opened to public and all guests are welcome.

In conjunction with District 87 Sibu Semi-Annual Conference 2017, the theme of the meeting is: “Start with Me”.

“Every single action or decision begins with us. Most of us would agree that in terms of responsibility, when it starts with each one of us, things will change for the better,” said Vincent Chai, the current president of Kuching Connections Toastmasters Club through their press statement yesterday.

“In life, we have a lot of excuses for not wanting to change and staying in our comfort zone. For real change to happen, it always start with ourselves.”

He added that Toastmasters International is a non-profit educational organisation which provides a platform to train members on public speaking, effective communication and leadership skills.

“A typical Toastmasters meeting will have members doing prepared speeches. There will be also an impromptu speaking session, known as TableTopics which allows members of the audience to come on stage and speak for 1-2 mins on a given topic.

“With a supportive and positive environment, the club aims to build up competent speakers. Members who make speeches will get constructive feedback and evaluation from club members, allowing each member to achieve his/her goals at own pace,” Chai elaborated.

The Toastmaster of the Evening ( TME) and emcee for the evening will be Jessie Chin, a civil engineer by profession and the secretary of Connection Toastmasters Club. A competent communicator achiever, she joined Toastmasters Club a year ago and is very passionate about Toastmasters.

The entry fee is RM10.00 per person inclusive of light refreshment.

Toastmasters meeting is hosted on every second and fourth Thursdays of the month at Homestay Hotel from 7.30pm onwards.
