Youth claims trial to raping underage girlfriend

KUCHING: A 21-year-old youth charged with raping his underage girlfriend claimed trial in the Sessions Court here last Friday.

The accused Mohammad Efnisaiful Jamil Ambia appeared before Court Registrar Syafiza Abdul Razak Tready who fixed Jan 23 for further mention.

Efnisaiful allegedly committed the offence on the 17-year-old girl in a room at a house in Tabuan Tranquilit­y here about 3am on Dec 8.

He is facing a charge under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code which provides for an imprisonme­nt up to 20 years and whipping upon conviction.

In an unrelated case, a former policeman charged with sexually assaulting a boy had his case adjourned to Jan 16, also for further mention.

Fazlie Zainudin, who maintained his innocence over the allegation, faces two charges under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Crime Offences Act 2017.

The section provides for an imprisonme­nt up to 20 years and whipping, on conviction.

The offences were allegedly committed on a 14-year-old boy between 2pm and 3pm at the state police headquarte­rs security post on Sept 4 this year, and between 3pm and 4pm inside a car at a secluded area near Paragon in Batu Kawah near here on the same day.

It is said that the boy is from his adoptive family.

The accused, whose last rank was lance corporal, is currently serving a 12-month jail term after he had pleaded guilty to four offences of committing forgery.
