Alibaba Group delegation holds dialogue with KCGCCI

-

KUCHNG: A delegation from Alibaba Group in China headed by Global Channel Manager Jason Wen, made a courtesy visit to cum dialogue with the Kuching Chinese General Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCGCCI) recently.

The visitors were welcomed by president of the KCGCCI Tan Jit Kee and Chairman of the Chamber’s Digital Economy Committee Rodger Chan Siong Boh, together with senior members of the Chamber.

At the dialogue, Wen briefed the Chamber members on Alibaba’s e-commerce platform and Malaysia’s Digital Free Trade Zone (DFTZ).

He said that whilst the majority of over 1,500 business participants of DFTZ were from West Malaysia, he hoped to get more Sarawak SMEs involved in the DFTZ.

Tan enquired on the prerequisites and application procedures of Alibaba’s ecommerce platform and the DFTZ.

He said that this was an important issue to be addressed because there were still many local businesses especially the SMEs who were not familiar with the actual operation details of Alibaba’s e-commerce and the DFTZ.

Chan echoed Tan’s remarks and hoped that more dialogue and awareness seminars could be jointly held by Alibaba and local partners together with the Chinese Chamber for the common good of the Chamber’s members and Alibaba.

Wen responded positively to the remarks and requests and looked forward to working with the Chamber.

Also present were local partners of Alibaba Group David Chew who is the CEO of FAME International College and Steve Chea, the Chief Operating Officer of URCE.
