Good Samaritans bring early Christmas joy to needy siblings

-

KUCHING: A group of Good Samaritans have pooled their resources to assist three needy siblings at a housing estate in Landeh near here in conjunction with the coming Christmas celebrations.

The assistance in the form of essential items including rice, cooking oil and biscuits were delivered to the family recently by voluntary social worker Lim Chee Haw who came together with a lady identified only as Madam Tan who informed him of the siblings’ plight.

When met yesterday, Lim disclosed that the recipients were sisters Jeganathen Cheti Teiuana, 67, Mangatai, 62 and Bumi Jaganathen, 58.

All three are unmarried and said to be suffering health problems which restrict them from working and earning steady income.

“Thanks to Madam Tan, we managed to locate these sisters and hand over some contributions to relieve their burden. All of them are staying at their elder brother’s house.

“I also thank Good Samaritans for responding to my request to assist these siblings,” said Lim.

On another matter, Lim said poor families needing coffins for the funeral of a departed family member can contact him at 082-248153 or 016-8070388 for assistance.

He explained these coffins are purchased using cash donations from Good Samaritans and placed at a coffin shop in Kuching. Among those people who had received such assistance were families in Mantung Marau, Serian and a village in Jalan Puncak Borneo.

“So far, 15 coffins have been delivered to places as far as Bau, Serian and Sri Aman,” said Lim.
