‘Chinese Community’ themed contest open to all shutterbugs in state
MIRI: The Sarawak Federation of Chinese Associations will hold a photography contest themed ‘Chinese Community’ that is open to all photographers in the state.
According to its youth chief Wong King Ho, the contest focuses on the culture and lives of the Chinese after emigrating from Chins more than 200 years ago.
“The Chinese have been adapting to life here, settled down and blended with the local community. They have been diligently working to preserve their culture for the younger generation,” he said in a press statement yesterday.
More importantly, the contest is a great way to capture the lives of the Chinese who had made it a habit to celebrate the Chinese New Year, Mid-Autumn Festival, Winter Solstice Festival and so on.
Such special occasions are when family members, both young and old, gather.
Each participant has to pay a RM10 registration fee to join the contest. Each one can submit a maximum of two entries in soft copy of 5MB in raw and JPEG files.
All entries must be submitted before the closing date on Dec 29 and the results of the contest will be announced in the newspapers. Winners will be notified by phone.
The prizes are RM2,000 cash and a trophy for the gold, RM1,000 cash and trophy for silver, RM500 cash and trophy for the bronze; with five special prizes of RM200 and trophy; and five consolation prizes of RM100 and trophy.
